Event Change Impact on Competitive Parity

With the departure of Pool and Darts from the Quad, new challengers for the title are certain to emerge.  The committee responsible for ensuring the Quad is as fair as possible, the Focused Advocates for Real Competitive Equity (F.A.R.C.E.) assembled the following assessment of competitors most impacted by the changes:

Dave ++++
Excellent golfer and Corn Hole player, as well as a perennial top-4 bowler.  With strong finishes possible in 3 events Dave emerges as this year's top threat.

Big John  +++
Projected for top-2 finishes in both Bowing and Mini-Golf, can he score enough points in Corn Hole and Disc Golf to secure the Black Velvet Jacket?

Johnny H ++
Probably the only competitor capable of scoring 10+ points in all four events, and well known for his short game in golf.  2012 could produce our second multi-year champion.

Mark +
2011's only competitor to not score any points in any event.  Change can only help.

Dean -
Loses the two events in which he did the best in 2011, but because he was in the USAF he should be good at golf.  Net result is slightly negative.

Scott --
Loses Darts, his highest scoring event in 2011.  Will most likely return to his standard spot on page 3 of the leader board, next to Tim.

Kevin ---
Loses only scoring event in 2011, and his shameless attempts to get a rodeo event into the Quad were unsuccessful.

Ben ----
Finished a remarkable first place in two events last year......the same two events we are dropping.  Total 2011 score in returning events = 0.

Pool Out: Corn Hole In

Following an exhaustive search of the greater Nashville metropolitan area, no facilities have been identified that (a) allow minors and (b) contain the requisite number of pool tables to support a 27 person double-elimination 8-Ball tournament.

As a result, Corn Hole, the event receiving the 5th largest number of votes in the recent selection process, will officially replace 8-Ball in the 2012 Quad.
Event Schedule Update:

Dec 27th:
AM: Bowling, Tusculum Lanes
PM: Putt-Putt, venue TBD.

Dec 28th:
AM: Disc Golf, Seven Oaks
PM: Corn Hole, driveway TBD.

Hale Successfully Breaks Arm to Escape Quad

Miriam Hale, facing the pressure of her first Quad, smiles with glee after successfully breaking her arm, allowing her to withdraw from competition.

"I wasn't sure it was even possible to break your arm in ballet," said Miriam from the comfort of her hospital bed, "but I really pulled it off!  BOTH bones!"

Unfortunately for the rookie Hale, Quad precedent mandates that she be placed in the Circle of Fear, regardless of the injury's severity.

Competitor Johnny Hipps, who entered November in the peak of physical condition, now claims to be suffering from Swine Flu.  Doctors are unclear on his long term prognosis, indicating he is highly lethargic and only responds to news stories relating to the price of gold or Susan B. Anthony coins.

Token family liberal Erin Bilbo said only that she was glad ObamaCare would soon be in place to ensure their quick and complete recoveries.

Darts in the Quad Fondly Remembered

by: Des Carroll
Des Carroll, reminiscing
The year was 1995, the man was Freddie Sistrunk, and the game was darts. My father very uncharacteristically took up a new hobby, "the peasants game" drunkenly played throughout Ireland and England for centuries. Darts has its roots in the gaelic dahgnts which means to hunt small birds and rodents. With the battle cries "this is just good clean fun", and "hey old dad is pretty good at this." Fred fearlessly talked about joining a league for hours on end while playing Bart, Doug, and myself. So the legend goes that when the quad was first dreamed up, and the quad events were being chosen my father Fred Sistrunk asked himself a question. That question was not, what would be the most fun, That question was not what would be the most popular, That question was not how will everyone feel about this event. That question was, what do I have an unfair advantage at, and what do the boys and Johnny not know how to play or have the equipment for. The answer to that question was darts. So in the true spirit of the Quad (to beat everyone at all costs including cheating, and if possible piss them off while your at it) Darts was chosen. I would like to take this opportunity to bid farewell to a time honored tradition, to say good bye to an era. Darts, you were the most luck based, of all the events with such unlikely champions as, Kevin Cooper, one of the Foley girls, and Doug Sistrunk when he was 15 and awkward. It was also one of the most likely to cause people to bitch before the event even started, and for that I loved it. So I say this to you all, no i say this to the world...........Doug was born a girl.
